5 Easy Ways Of Making Deodorants With Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has a number of uses and is truly one of the best. Did you know that you can actually make deodorants at home using coconut oil? Here are some easy ways of making deodorants with coconut oil and also the reason for using coconut oil as a deodorant.

1. The Quick One With Essential Oils:

Now this one is really easy. All you need to do is take a coconut oil and to it add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. This can be lavender oil or citrus oil or any essential oil which you love and use this mixture as a deodorant.

2. Deodorant Using Coconut Oil, Baking Powder And Arrowroot Powder:

For making this deodorant you will need half cup of coconut oil and half a cup of arrowroot powder or cornstarch. As for the baking soda, take only a little quantity of may be one teaspoon. If you have a sensitive skin then you can reduce the quantity of baking soda or avoid it totally. You can also take a few drops of essential oils like cinnamon oil etc but this is optional.Now in a bowl add the coconut oil, the arrow root powder and the baking soda and mix well till you get a cream like consistency. Now add the essential oils and mix well. Store this deodorant in a container and you can use it for your underarms.

3. Deodorant Using Coconut Oil, Shea Butter And Bees Wax:

In this case you will need half cup of coconut oil, half cup of arrow root powder, half cup of shea butter and half a cup of beeswax. You can add a little baking soda. But if you have a sensitive skin then avoid using baking powder.

Now mix the coconut oil, shea butter and beeswax and keep the container in a double boiler. When the mixture melts remove it from the double boiler and let it cool for some time. When the mixture is just warm then add the arrow root powder and baking soda and mix well. To make the deodorant more effective you add a little vitamin E oil and also a little probiotics which are available in the form of capsules. You can also add essential oils like lavender oil.

4. Deodorant Using Coconut Oil, Diatomaceous Earth And Cornstarch:

Now this deodorant is for the ones who have a sensitive skin. It does not contain baking soda. You need about 10 tablespoons of coconut oil ( make sure that it is melted coconut oil), three fourth cup of cornstarch and one fourth cup of food grade diatomaceous earth. First mix the cornstarch and the diatomaceous earth in a bowl. Now add a little melted coconut oil to this mixture and mix well. Keep adding the coconut oil little at a time and keep stirring the mixture. Keep mixing the ingredients till you can a mixture of the required consistency. This deodorant has no baking soda and can hence be used by people with sensitive skin. However if you do have a very sensitive skin then it is better that you consult a dermatologist before using any deodorant.

5. Coconut Oil Deodorant For Dry Skin:

If you have the problem of dry skin then you can make a deodorant which has witch hazel. You will need half cup of coconut oil, half cup of the arrowroot powder, a little baking soda( if you want), a spoonful of witch hazel which will prevent your skin from becoming dry and it also has a soothing effect on the skin and a few drops of lemongrass oil. In a bowl mix the coconut oil and the arrowroot powder. To this add the baking soda and mix well. Now add witch hazel and few drops of the essential oil and mix again. Store the deodorant in a clean and dry container.
