5 Home Remedies for Earaches

Earaches can be the worst kind of pains and it generally happens to children or people who have low immunity system. These piercing earaches can totally spoil your day but you need not worry as most of them can be cured without antibiotics just by using simple home remedies. Some of the reasons for ear pain are bacterial infection, sinus infection, or excess wax in the ears.

1. Olive Oil

Olive oil is effective in providing relief from earache. It helps in clearing extra wax in our ears and also contains antiviral properties to beat any bacterial infection. It can also be helpful in preventing further bacterial or viral attack. For this you need to put warm olive oil in ears using ear dropper. It should not be hot. Put cotton balls in ears to block oil and then massage the outer part of ear. Repeat it twice daily. Garlic is also commonly used with olive oil for earaches. Add some garlic cloves to the oil and leave it for some time. After removing garlic you need to put the oil in ears and use cotton balls for blocking.

2. Warm Compresses

Another effective method is cold or warm compresses. The heat helps to improve blood circulation in the affected area and thus provide relief. You need to wash a small towel or cloth with hot water or wrap a hot water bottle in that cloth. Now gently apply warm compresses on the affected or both ears till the cloth is warm. You can also apply these compresses to your throat. You can also drop some natural oils in your ear before compresses for better result.

3. Onion

Using onion for ear pains and infections is a decade old method most grandparents believe in. Turn your oven to 450 degree Fahrenheit and put onion in it on a pan and cook for about 15 minutes. Then let it cool down a bit. Then cut it in halves and squeeze on a bowl to take out onion juice. Use ear dropper to put this onion juice in the affected ear. Keep the head tilted on the correct side to prevent juice from falling out. Stay in the position for some time.

4. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar contains a lot of healing properties despite its strong smell and acidic taste. It has both anti fungal and anti bacterial properties so it can fight any infection caused by them in your ears. You only need some water, apple cider vinegar and cotton ball for this. Mix apple cider vinegar with water and soak cotton ball in that solution. Keep that cotton ball in the affected area for about 5 minutes. You can also use hair dryer to dry your ear. Hair dryer must be kept at low.

5. Radish

Radish can be used to remove any extra wax in the ears and it also has inflammatory properties. All you will need for this remedy are 1 fresh radish and some mustard oil. You need to chop the radish to small pieces and then warm then in mustard oil for around 5 minutes. Cool it down to room temperature and then using ear dropper put some drops of it in the affected ear. Repeat this several times in a day for better results.
