Inflammation of the hair follicles is known as folliculitis. It is caused by overgrowth of bacteria or fungi in the hair follicles. Folliculitis damages the hair follicles, which inhibits hair growth and in case of severe infection, it causes of permanent hair loss. There are various causes of folliculitis. Common scalp conditions such as acne and dermatitis can cause folliculitis. It may occur when the hair follicles are damaged by heat or friction, which makes them vulnerable to infections. However, regardless of the underlying cause, folliculitis can be easily treated and hair loss can be prevented with simple remedies.
Applying a vinegar compress on the affected areas on the scalp helps in reducing the inflammation of the hair follicles. The antiseptic property of acetic acid in vinegar helps in killing the microbes responsible for the infection. Furthermore, vinegar helps in restoring the slightly acidic pH of the scalp, which creates an unsuitable environment for further infections. Add a tablespoon of vinegar to a cup of warm water. Dip a clean wash cloth or cotton in the mixture, wring out to remove the excess liquid and place the cotton on the affected area. Apply the compress daily, twice a day for fast relief.
The anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties of turmeric help in treating folliculitis and reverses hair loss. Mix ground turmeric with olive oil and spread the mixture on the scalp. Leave it on the scalp for 20 to 30 minutes. Wash off with mild shampoo.
Indian Lilac And Camphor
In Ayurveda, Indian lilac and camphor are recommended for treating bacterial infections of the hair follicles. The antiseptic property of Indian lilac and camphor helps in destroying the bacteria that damage the hair follicles, leading to hair loss. Take a tablespoon of Indian lilac oil and add a pinch of camphor. Apply the mixture to the affected area. Leave it on your scalp at least for an hour. Wash off with mild shampoo.
Oregano Essential Oil And Jojoba Oil
The antibacterial activity of oregano essential oil helps in treating scalp folliculitis caused by bacterial infection. For best result, add two to three drops of oregano essential oil to a tablespoon of jojoba oil and apply the oil mixture to the scalp. Jojoba oil is quite similar to the natural hair oil. Hence, it works as an excellent carrier oil and easily carries the essential oil to the hair follicles.
Applying a small amount of extra virgin coconut oil to the scalp helps in treating folliculitis and stops hair fall. Coconut oil contains antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory compounds that help in treating the inflammation of the hair follicles. With regular use it helps in restoring the normal function of the hair follicles and promotes hair re-growth.
