When an injury or wound leads to surface damage to your skin, it is known as an abrasion. Most of us think abrasion as laceration but it is a mistake because abrasion is less acute than other skin damages. An abrasion is only skin deep and never goes deeper than the epidermal layer. The reason behind having abrasions is coming into contact with rough surfaces like falling on a rough floor which causes grazing or scraping of skin. This is more common among children than adults since their skin is delicate. Certain sports like football and soccer are more common for the formation of abrasions. 1. Aloe Vera

You can use fresh aloe vera gel obtained from plants or pure aloe vera gel that can be obtained at beauty stores. It is preferable to use freshly obtained ones as it is completely free from chemicals. Scrap the inner white sticky gel from aloe vera leaves and apply it directly on the affected area. Cleanse the injured skin with water and then smear a thin layer of honey on it. Then you can use a bandage to wrap the affected area. A regular kitchen item containing bacteria-fighting ability is garlic. It has an anti-bacterial agent known as Allicin which can shield wounded skins from septicity and infectivity. Simply tape a clove of garlic directly onto the affected area and leave it for about 20 min. Do not place it for more than 20 min as garlic can irritate the skin.[4]

Mix vinegar with water at the ratio of 1:3 in order to dilute it since the concentration of vinegar is strong and can further damage the wounds. Use a cotton ball to wipe the wound with this solution. It is better to use warm water rather than cold water for mixing with vinegar. This method can relieve pain as vinegar is a natural astringent and can purify open abrasions and wounds quickly.[5]
