Babies have soft, supple and sensitive skin. It is very easy for their skin to be affected by diaper rashes. Diaper rashes are skin eruptions in the area in contact with diapers. They are seen as red, inflamed patches on your baby’s bottom, thighs and stomach. This occurs due to constant rubbing of diapers on the skin, the skin remaining wet and moist, urine, stool and other chemicals in wipes etc. the warm, moist environment within the diaper serves as a perfect medium for growth of infection causing bacteria and yeast. Diaper rashes are more of an irritation than a problem as it makes your baby very uncomfortable. These can be easily cured using simple home remedies.
Here Are Some Simple Remedies For Diaper Rash Treatment:
Wipe your baby well. Apply a thin layer of coconut oil on the affected area. Leave it for 30 -40 minutes. Do not make the baby wear any diaper during this time. Coconut oil will help soothe the irritation and prevents growth of bacteria and fungus.
Take a cup of unflavored oatmeal and powder it well. Add to a bath of lukewarm water. Soak your baby in this oatmeal bath for 10 minutes. Pat the baby dry.
Take few drops of your breast milk and apply it on the area with rashes. Let it dry and then wipe off with normal water.
Mix 1 part of vinegar with 8 parts of water. Soak a cotton cloth in this mild, diluted vinegar. Squeeze out the excess water. Wipe your baby’s bottom gently with this damp cloth. The acidity of vinegar will help to neutralize the urine, thereby preventing bacterial growth. This helps to reduce the rashes.
Add 2 spoons of baking soda in your baby’s bath. Soak your baby for 5 minutes. Wash with normal, lukewarm water. Pat your baby dry. Baking soda will change the pH of your baby’s skin making it unsuitable for bacterial growth. This helps to reduce the diaper rashes on your baby.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Make a solution of apple cider vinegar by mixing it with equal volume of water. Soak a cotton ball or clot in this diluted mix. Squeeze out the excess water. Dab the baby’s skin with this damp cotton. Leave it for 5-10 minutes. Gently wipe off using plain, warm water. Dab the area dry.
