10 Effective DIY Remedies For Sinusitis

Sinus pain is really unbearable. I can say this from my personal experience. The sinusitis gets triggered at any time, be it dust allergies, viral infections or change in climate. If it gets triggered we have to take medicines which are not at all advisable. So here I am again with some home remedies to treat our sinus pain.

Here Are Some Effective Home Remedies For Sinusitis:

1. Saline Washes:

Flush out the nasal passage with saline washes. Saline washes have been proven to be an effective and first line of defense against Sinusitis.

2. Take A Steam:

Hot water vapor moistens the sinuses. You can also sprinkle few drops of menthol in the shower and steam up your bathroom. A hot steamy shower helps to loosen up debris and mucus that is stuck inside your nose

3. Apple Cider Vinegar:

Apple Cider Vinegar contains high vitamins which help in treating the sinusitis. It clears the unwanted bacteria and treats the sinus infection. Mix 2 tsp of Apple cider vinegar in a cup of lukewarm water. Drink it twice daily. For better results, you can gargle with this mixture.

4. Essential Oils:

Essential Oils act as a natural de-congestion and helps in treating sinusitis. They also contain anti-inflammatory, antifungal and soothing properties which are useful for sinus pain. Mix 3 to 4 drops of lemon oil, 3 to 4 drops of lavender oil and 3 to 4 drops of eucalyptus oil altogether. Apply a drop or two on your temples, neck and back neck. Massage using your fingers. For best results, use every day for 2 to 3 hours.

5. Ginger Tea:

Ginger has anti-oxidant properties which are very effective for treating sinusitis. Add 1 to 2 tsp of grated ginger to a cup of warm water and wait for 10 minutes. Strain and drink it slowly. You can add honey to enhance the flavor. Drink 2 to 3 cups of ginger tea every day.

6. Hydrogen Peroxide:

Hydrogen peroxide acts as an astringent and kills the bacteria that block the nasal space. Take 3% of hydrogen peroxide in a small spray bottle. Spray the solution into your nose for few times and take a deep breath so that it reaches your nasal space. If required, repeat the process after few hours.

7. Pure Honey:

Honey acts against many viruses, bacteria’s present in nasal space and helps in soothing sinus pain. Mix 1 Tbsp of pure honey with 1 to 2 tsp lemon juice and heat the mixture for few seconds. Drink this mixture twice every day to prevent sinusitis.

8. Grapefruit Seeds:

The extract from grapefruit seeds has an anti-fungal element and helps in treating sinusitis. Add few drops of grapefruit seed extract with a ½ cup of warm water. Inhale it properly for twice a day.

9. Epsom Salt And Baking Soda:

Epsom salt takes out all the intoxicated elements present in our body and relaxes our muscles. Baking soda has antibacterial properties which eliminate the bacteria’s in our body. Add 1 cup of Epsom salt and ½ cup of baking soda in your bathtub and fill it with warm water. Mix well and relax in it for 20 to 30 minutes. Use this technique once a day for best results.

10. Coconut Oil:

Coconut oil is an age old process in treating sinusitis. It has antibacterial elements and helps in deep cleanse the bacteria. Melt 1 Tbsp of coconut oil and swish it in your mouth for at least 10 to 20 minutes. Spit the oil out and wash your mouth with warm water.
