Winter is round the corner and along with the endless pile of woollens, there is also a list of essential beauty care products, and a lip balm is an absolute necessity. Though the options are endless in the market but making your own lip balm at home is much more healthy and, of course economical. Dry chapped lips look ugly and can cause pain and discomfort if left untreated. The lip balm not only hydrates the lips but also protects it from further drying.
Here I Discuss 2 Simple Diy Recipes Of Lip Balms To Soothe Your Dry And Cracked Lips:
Healing Beeswax Lip Balm –
1 tab coconut oil, 2 vitamin E capsules, 2 tab beeswax, 1 tsp raw organic honey
Beeswax is the carrier of the lip balm. It provides the lip balm with the body, provides moisturization and also has sun protection qualities. The coconut oil has natural healing benefits, retains moisture, and also provides a coating that protects the lips. Vitamin E is essential for a healthy skin and contains antioxidants that protect the lips from the free radical damage. honey has antiseptic properties and contains loads of moisturization to keep the lips supple and smooth.
Melt the beeswax in a double boiler and when it has semi-melted, add the coconut oil and honey. Stir everything together and when it melts completely, add the vitamin E capsule contents. When this mixture is semi warm, pour it in moulds and leave it to set for a few hours. Apply as often as u wish to protect your lips from the winter chill!
Pink Glossy Lip Balm-
This is a glamorous version of the basic lip balm recipe where we play with the items and add a bright touch to the lip balm.
2 tab beeswax, 2 tsp sweet almond oil, 1 tab coconut oil, 1 PC of red lipstick, a shimmer of eyeshadow, 8 drops of orange essential oil
Essential oils add aroma and flavor to the balm, I have added orange essential oil but peppermint, lemon etc are all good. The lipstick adds color to the balm and eyeshadow with gives it a glint making it a complete makeup for the lips. Almond oil supplies the balm with the required nutrients to make the lips soft and healthy.
Melt the beeswax in a double boiler and slowly add in all the ingredients stirring continuously. As soon as the mixture melts completely, remove from the gas. Add the essential oil now, as adding it earlier would evaporate it on cooking. Pour into containers and leave for 2 hours so that it sets well.
Chocolate Mint Lip Balm –
This lip balm has a yummy chocolate flavor with a minty touch and also has the goodness of almond oil and coconut oil. The vitamin E keeps the skin elastic and healthy and the cocoa butter is used to add body and for moisturising and keeping the skin hydrated.
1 tsp cocoa butter, 1 tsp coconut oil,1 tsp almond oil, 2-3 drops of peppermint oil, 1 vitamin E capsule, 3-4 semi chocolate chips.
Pour all the items in a double boiler, except the peppermint oil, and melt it and mix it well. Switch off the gas and add the peppermint oil. Put it in containers and store it in refrigerators or at room temperature taking care as it can melt due to heat. This balm can be stored up to 2 months.
