5 Best Ways To Treat Pimples With Toothpaste

Best Ways To Treat Pimples With Toothpaste

Pimple breakout drives us crazy. We try all sorts of treatments, from over-the-counter anti-acne products to a variety of home remedies suggested by friends. However, not many of us have experimented with toothpaste to treat pimples. Toothpastes are formulated for oral care but most of us do not know that they are outstanding zit busters. If you check the ingredients list of your toothpaste, you will come across a number of ingredients with proven anti-acne properties. Toothpastes contain a number of antibacterial ingredients such as triclosan, hydrogen peroxide and salt.  Baking soda, menthol and alcohol found in a number of toothpastes work as drying agents.

Here Are The List Of Best Way To Treat Pimples With Toothpaste

Select The Right Toothpaste

You cannot use any toothpaste to heal the zits. The classic white toothpaste is ideal for the treatment. It contains the antibacterial and drying ingredients that are effective for treating pimples. The colored strips on toothpastes contain ingredients that irritate the skin, hence unsuitable for topical use. Also avoid the gel toothpastes as they do not help in drying the pimples as well as the teeth whitening toothpastes as they contain bleaching ingredients that harm the skin. Opt for a low fluoride or fluoride free formula to prevent skin irritation.

Do A Skin Test

To prevent adverse skin reactions, do a skin test before applying the toothpaste on the pimple. Put a small amount of toothpaste on a pimple-free area on your face or body. Leave it on at least for 15 minutes. If you do not notice any skin problem, you can consider the toothpaste safe for treating pimple.

Apply Toothpaste

Before applying the toothpaste, wash your face with a suitable cleanser and pat it dry. Take a small amount of toothpaste and apply it directly on the pimple. Avoid applying the toothpaste on the unaffected skin around the pimple. If you have sensitive skin, leave the toothpaste on the pimple for not more than 15 minutes; otherwise leave it on at least for two hours and for best result overnight.
