Lactic acid helps to slow down the production of tyrosinase, an enzyme which is responsible for the production of melanin. An overproduction of tyrosinase enzyme can lead to skin hyper pigmentation. To lighten freckles apply a thick layer of sour cream on the affected regions of the skin. Allow the skin to absorb the lactic acid in the sour cream. After fifteen to twenty minutes, wash off the sour cream with cold water. Repeat this home remedy every day for a couple of weeks till the freckles fade away.
