5 Ways To Get Rid Of Uneven And Blotchy Skin Tone

Some time back my friend commented that my skin looks like a grand canyon. I was not sure whether he was comparing my skin with the richness of the Grand Canyon or whether he meant it for. Only later it dawned on me that he was commenting on the nature of my blotchy and uneven skin tone. How I made my skin back to normal is a different story, but we are sure that you might have definitely experienced such blotchy uneven skin conditions at some point in time in your life. Trust us, it is not pleasant and can send many of you into nightmares when you realize that your skin is now distinguished with many red or brown areas. It can occur at any place, but your face and hands are affected the most. There are no exact reasons as to why they occur and it can include a number of factors- both internal and external. These can include environmental conditions, excess stress, medications, skin diseases or even a simple rash. Genetics too plays a factor sometimes.

Blemished and uneven skin tones are not exactly a paradise situation and they make you feel aged beyond your years. You can try out many medications for it or you can simply go for some home remedies that can be beneficial in curbing such conditions. 1. Aloe Vera

Looks like every cosmetic product worth its name seem to endorse Aloe Vera nowadays. And why wouldn’t they? It is a storehouse of some incredible elements that are simply beneficial to the skin hands down. It can be used for any skin type and delivers results consistently against the new age skin problems. It is anti-inflammatory and can be beneficial against skin inflammation and greatly reduces the swelling symptoms and redness. Also, it is an effective skin moisturizer and can be soothing to your skin against the skin blemishes. You can either use a store bought Aloe Vera gel or you can take the extracts from the Aloe Vera leaf. Rub them mildly on your skin and in the areas where you feel the skin tone is uneven. Later wash it off with cool water. Repeat this twice a day for great results.

2. Coconut Oil

You can write endless write-ups about how coconut oil is good for your skin but still, you wouldn’t have made justice to the innumerable benefits of coconut oil. It is a treasure trove of fatty acids and can make a noteworthy contribution in taking care of the dryness of your skin. It is a natural moisturizer and hydrates your skin from deep within. Its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties can be extremely beneficial in taking care of such uneven skin tones. Try using virgin coconut oil for best benefits. Apply them on your raw skin mixing them with a little Aloe Vera or you can make a scrub out of it. Take some coconut oil and mix it with a teaspoon of sugar and a few drops of honey. Now, make a thick paste and use it as an exfoliating scrub on your skin. Repeat this once in a week and say goodbye to your uneven skin tones.

3. Oatmeal

One of the reasons why you have an uneven skin tone could be due to the presence of the buildup of dead skin cells and the infections that it might have produced. Oatmeal can be used as an effective exfoliating agent in such conditions. Added to that oatmeal is an immense moisturizing agent and works efficiently in hydrating your skin. It also has antioxidant properties that reduce the flare ups and blotchiness. Take half a cup of crushed oatmeal and mix it with lukewarm water or milk to get a thick paste. Add in a few drops of honey and apply it generously on your skin like a scrub. Wash it off later. Repeat this once in a week to see the reduction in the affected area.

4. Yogurt

Raw yogurt or curd will work best when you have a blotchy skin that is due to sun exposure. It is a natural coolant and has got lactic acid that is beneficial for age spots and dry skin. It moisturizes your skin from within and works as an exciting exfoliating agent. Take liberal quantities of yogurt and apply it generously on your skin and the affected area. Let it soak up for half an hour. Wash off with cool water. Add in a dash of lavender essential oil if needed. Use this once or twice a week for the best results.

5. Rose Water

Rose water can also be tried out when you experience an uneven skin tone. It has all the beneficial properties of an Aloe Vera and it is anti-inflammatory too. It can soften the skin and can be effective against the redness and dark spots. It also helps in the regeneration of dead skin tissues if used regularly. It is compatible with all skin types; however, before trying it out check out if you are allergic to it as a minuscule percentage of the population may be sensitive to rose water. Take a soft cloth or a cotton ball and dip it in rose water and dab it in the affected areas. Wash off your skin later after some time. Repeat this daily for a week till the uneven tone diminishes.
