Jojoba oil is the natural oil extracted from the seeds of the jojoba plant. Jojoba is a shrub native to the dry areas of southwestern USA and Mexico. Because of its structural and chemical similarity with the natural oil of the scalp, jojoba oil is considered an effective remedy for hair problems. When applied to the scalp, jojoba oil helps in promoting hair growth. It moisturizes the scalp without clogging the hair follicles, which enables the hair to grow freely. Moreover, jojoba oil is an excellent source of vitamin E, the antioxidant vitamin that protects the hair follicles from harmful activities of free radicals. For reducing hair fall and promoting hair growth, you can use jojoba oil in the following ways.
Warm Oil Treatment
Before applying jojoba oil to your scalp, warm the oil. The lukewarm oil rapidly penetrates the hair follicles. With your fingertips spread the oil on your scalp and gently massage the scalp for 1 to 2 minutes. Spread a small amount of the oil on the tresses. Leave the oil on your hair overnight or at least for an hour. Wash your hair with mild shampoo.
Jojoba Oil with Coconut Oil, Honey and Lavender
Poor hair growth because of dryness of the scalp and hair can be treated by applying a mixture of jojoba oil, coconut oil, honey and lavender essential oil to the scalp and hair. This is an excellent remedy for moisturizing the scalp, treating dandruff, repairing the damaged hair and promoting hair growth. Blend a teaspoon of jojoba oil, a teaspoon of coconut oil and two teaspoons of honey. Add 15 to 20 drops of lavender essential oil to the oil and honey mixture. Apply the mixture to your scalp and hair. Wait for 30 minutes and then wash off with mild shampoo.
Jojoba Oil and Egg Yolk
The nutrient rich egg yolk provides nourishment to the hair follicles that helps in strengthening the hair follicles. To improve hair growth, use a hair mask made by combining egg yolk with jojoba oil. To make the hair mask, you will need one tablespoon of jojoba oil, one egg yolk and 8 to 10 tablespoons of unflavored yogurt. Make a smooth paste by blending the ingredients. Cover your scalp and hair with the paste. Wait for 20 minutes and then wash your hair with a mild shampoo.
Jojoba Oil and Avocado
Avocado contains unsaturated fats that help in keeping the scalp and hair hydrated. Moreover, avocado is an excellent source of vitamins A, C and E and certain B vitamins that help in hair growth. Combine two tablespoons of mashed avocado with a tablespoon each of jojoba oil and unflavored yogurt and apply the mixture to your scalp and hair. Leave it on your hair for an hour and then wash your hair.
Jojoba Oil and Banana
Banana is an excellent moisturizing ingredient. It is also packed with antioxidants that protect the hair follicles from free radicals and reduce hair fall. To promote hair growth, you can use a hair mask made by combining banana with jojoba oil. To make the hair mask you will need an overripe banana, three teaspoons of jojoba oil, three teaspoons of natural yogurt and a teaspoon of honey. Mash the banana and blend it with the other ingredients. Saturate your scalp and hair with the mixture. Leave it on your hair for an hour. Then wash your hair with a mild shampoo.
