Indian Lilac And Turmeric

Traditionally, the Indian lilac leaves are combined with turmeric to heal the breakouts. Turmeric is a powerful antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent, effective for treating skin disorders. In a blender, put 10 to 15 Indian lilac leaves, ½-teaspoon of ground turmeric and water according to need and blend until you get a thick paste. Apply the paste to your skin. Wait for 20 to 30 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.

The cooling and soothing effects of sandalwood help in reducing the swelling, redness and pain of the pimples. Furthermore, it absorbs the excess oil from the skin. To treat acne, combine one tablespoon of sandalwood powder with equal amount of Indian lilac leaves powder or 15 to 20 fresh leaves. Add water to make a smooth paste. Spread the paste evenly on your face. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then wash off with water.

The antiseptic property of holy basil leaves help in inhibiting growth of the acne causing bacteria. Holy basil also works as an astringent. It soothes the skin and helps in reducing swelling of the pimples. In a blender, put a large handful each of Indian lilac and holy basil leaves. If fresh leaves are not available use a tablespoon each of the powdered herb. Add a teaspoon of Bentonite clay or Fuller’s earth, a teaspoon of honey and distilled water according to need and make a thick paste. Apply the paste to your face. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then wash off with lukewarm water.

Aloe vera gel helps in reducing swelling and pain of the pimples. Combining aloe vera gel with Indian lilac leaf paste, apart from healing acne, helps in clearing the acne scars. Make a paste by blending a tablespoon of crushed Indian lilac leaves with a teaspoon of aloe vera gel. For better result, add holy basil leaves. Evenly spread the paste on your face. Rinse after 30 minutes.

Cucumber is an excellent astringent for the acne prone skin. It soothes the skin and reduces the excessive oiliness of the skin. Make a smooth paste by blending a tablespoon of cucumber juice with a teaspoon of Indian lilac leaves powder or 10 to 15 crushed fresh leaves. For better result, add ½-teaspoon of ground turmeric. Apply the paste on your face. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then rinse.
