In a cup of boiling water, steep a teaspoon of ground turmeric, a teaspoon of ground ginger and one green tea bag for ten minutes. Sweeten with a tablespoon of honey and drink the tea. For better result, drink a cup of turmeric and ginger tea one to three times daily.

To fight inflammation, aches and pains you can take turmeric with cinnamon [5]. To a cup of warm water, add a quarter of a teaspoon each of turmeric powder and cinnamon powder and drink the tea. This remedy is especially effective for chronic pains that worsen in the cold weather.

6. Turmeric Poultice:

In addition to consuming turmeric, applying turmeric poultice to the painful areas helps in reducing the swelling and pain [6]. Apart from turmeric, the poultice contains ginger, which helps in warming the painful area and stimulates circulation, thereby providing fast relief from inflammation and pain. Mix two tablespoons each of turmeric powder and ginger powder. Add enough castor oil to make a smooth paste. Spread the paste on the aching joint and cover it with a clean towel. Place a hot water bottle or a heating pad over the towel. Make sure that the area remains warm for up to 15 minutes. Rinse off the paste with cool water. If needed, apply the poultice several times a day.
