1. Garlic

Yes, it is true, garlic has a strong fragrance that can suffocate lice to death. To use, crush 10 pieces of garlic and add 2-3 teaspoon of lemon juice. Make a fine mixture and apply thoroughly all over your scalp. Let the remedy stay on your head for ½ an hour. Finally rinse your hair with hot water.


2. Olive Oil

People who are in a habit of using olive oil, can never have lice in head. Olive oil is a smooth remedy that suffocates lice with its strong smell. This remedy is a two way benefit. First, olive oil is excellent for hair fall and hair growth and second it kills lice. Apply olive oil on your head every night before going to bed. Wear a towel on your head overnight. Comb your hair gently in the morning and rinse with some herbal shampoo afterwards.

3. Salt

When salt is mixed with anything, it pulls out its element thus leaving it dehydrated. Here also, salt is a wonderful remedy in eradicating head lice through the process of desiccation. Add ¼ cup of salt in ¼ cup of vinegar. Stir well to make sure that the salt dissolves completely. Now spray the solution on your hair. Make sure that you don’t spray in excess at the same place. Wear a shower cap & let it stay for 2 hours. To end with, rinse your hair with warm water.


4. Petroleum Jelly

Petroleum jelly removes lice by taking a stifling reaction from the roaming lice. Continuous application for a few week can solve your problem. Massage a thick layer of petroleum jelly gently on your scalp every night before going to bed. Cover your head with a towel. As it would be hard to remove the jelly from hair in the morning, therefore use baby oil for that.

5. Tea Tree Oil

If you think that only a proper insecticide can prove effective against insects then use tea tree oil as it is a natural insecticide that starts fetching you the result right from the moment you apply on your scalp. Take 1 spoon of tea tree oil, 3 teaspoon of coconut oil and 1 ounce of natural shampoo. Mix the three ingredients thoroughly and apply on your scalp. Cover your head and leave it for ½ an hour. Rinse thoroughly with hot water.

White vinegar is another safe and inexpensive option of removing head lice. It is because of the presence of acetic acid in vinegar that it appears so indispensable in destroying lice. Take water and equal amount of vinegar. Dilute them and saturate your scalp with the solution. Leave for an hour or two followed by dipping a comb in white vinegar and combing hair again. You have another option of rinsing your hair with the mixture before or after shampooing.

7. Sesame Seed Oil

Full of antimicrobial property, sesame oil is a complete natural insecticide. Freeing your head from such unwanted lice, it provides a great relief. In ¼th cup of sesame oil, mix 1/8th cup of Neem oil, 1 spoon of lavender essential oil and 1 spoon of rosemary essential oil. Apply the mixture on your scalp only after you wash your hair with apple cider vinegar and it dries up completely. Cover your head with a shower cap and let it stay overnight. In the morning first comb your hair then shampoo. Follow after a gap of 2 days.
