Many of us are fond of eating and so we always engage the teeth and mouth in constantly chewing and eating something. But, if the mouth is not washed every time we gobble up some of our favourite foods, then our teeth and gums are sure to suffer. Tooth ache is a major problem that occurs due to an infection around the jaws and can be very excruciating. Along with medicines, yoga can also be helpful to overcome such ailments faced by the body. So, here is a list of some simple acupressure points that will help us to keep the mouth healthy and keep tooth ache and other cavity problems at bay.
8 Acupressure Points For Tooth Ache:
1. SI 18
The small intestine 18, as it is called, is located at the lower edge of the cheek bone that also is placed straight down from the lower corner of the eye. This point is also known as the Cheek Bone Hole which works wonders for any kind of tooth ache or gum problem. Apply steady pressure on this point on both sides of the face for a minute and breathe deeply. This point helps to get relief from toothaches, swelling of the jaw, Bell’s Palsy, facial paralysis and twitching of the eyelids.
2. ST 6
Also known as Stomach 6, this significant acupressure point is placed in the middle of the upper and lower jaws and the muscle that is in front of the ear lobe. Apply pressure with your thumb on this point on both sides of the face for a minute to get rid of tooth ache, gum problems, spasms, TMJ problems, lockjaw, sore throat and a crooked mouth. This point is also called the Jaw Chariot.
3. ST 36
The Stomach 36 also known as the Facial Beauty, is situated at the bottom of the cheek bone just below the pupil. Apply firm pressure on both sides of the face on this point for a minute and breathe deeply. Along with giving relief from tooth ache, this point also helps in avoiding sinus congestion and headache.
4. LI 4
Called the Union Valley point or the Large Intestine point , functions in a multipurpose way to give relief from a variety of ailments other than tooth ache and gum problem. This point is located on the high point of the flesh joining the thumb and the index finger when they are brought together. Apply pressure on this point on any hand for a minute to get relief from rhinitis, fever, skin diseases and helps in boosting the immune system.
5. TW 13
The point Triple Warner 13 also helps in getting rid of acute teeth and gum problems. Also known as the Shoulder Meeting Point, this point is situated on the outer side of the upper arm. Stimulate this point by applying firm pressure on both sides of the arms for a minute or until you get relief from tooth ache and gum problems. This point also is helpful for arm pain, thyroid and fever to name a few.
6. ST 44
The Stomach 44 or the Inner Court, is located on the top of the foot that is between the second and third toe. Activate this point on both the feet for a minute by applying steady pressure to get relief from tooth ache and gum problems, gastric problems and digestive disorders.
7. KD 3
Kidney 3 or the Great Ravine as it is termed is also a very effective acupressure point for tooth aches and gum problems. This point is placed in the hollow between the tip of the medical malleolus and tendo calcaneus that is placed right in the middle side of the foot. Activate this point on both feet for a minute by applying firm pressure with the thumb for a minute and get relief from tooth ache, pharynx swelling, cough, diabetes, male impotence, irregular menstruation and lumbar pain.
8. SJ 2
The San Jiao 2 or the Fluid Gate, is placed on the dorsum of the hand near the margin of the web between the 4th and 5th fingers. It helps to get relief from gum problems headache, ear ache, sore throat and malaria.
