Mustard oil is an excellent source of monounsaturated fats. Its healthy fat content is higher than that of olive oil. In addition, it contains a number of nutrients essential for hair growth such as vitamin A, vitamin C, B vitamins and iron. The antioxidants in the oil protect the hair follicles from the destructive activities of the free radicals.Massaging the scalp with mustard oil boosts circulation, which increases supply of nutrient rich blood to the hair follicles. Hot Oil Massage With Mustard Oil
This is the simplest way of using mustard oil for reducing hair loss. For shoulder-length hair, you will need one tablespoon of mustard oil.
Heat the oil. Apply lukewarm mustard oil to your scalp and hair. With your fingertips gently massage your scalp for a few minutes. Leave the oil in your hair at least for 1 hour. For better result, leave it overnight. Wash your hair with gentle shampoo.
Mustard Oil And Banana Mask
This hair mask helps in treating hair loss caused by dandruff. It helps in providing relief from dry and flaky scalp. It moisturizes the hair and makes the hair soft and dandruff free.
Mash one ripe banana and add a teaspoon of mustard oil. Apply the paste to your scalp and hair. Wait for at least 30 minutes and then wash with mild shampoo.
Mustard Oil And Nettle Mask
Nettle is recommended by herbalists for treating hair loss. It helps in maintaining the normal sebum balance that provides relief from dry scalp. It makes the hair strong and reduces hair fall. Combining nettle with mustard oil helps in reducing hair loss rapidly.
Take 100 grams of mustard oil. Add 50 grams of dried nettle and heat the mixture in a double boiler for about 10 minutes. Keep the mixture aside for 7 days to allow the herb to infuse with the oil. Strain the oil and massage your scalp with the nettle infused mustard oil thrice a week.
Mustard Oil With Henna oOr Curry Leaves
This is a popular Ayurvedic recipe for fighting hair loss. You can use either henna leaves or curry leaves for the recipe. Alternatively, you can blend both the herbs.
Add 10 to 15 henna leaves or curry leaves to a cup of mustard oil. On low to medium heat, cook the leaves in the oil for 10 minutes. Strain the oil and apply it to your scalp and hair. Leave the oil in your hair at least for an hour and then wash off with mild shampoo.
