How To Make An Olive Oil Face Wash

Olive Oil Face Wash

When you hear the name of olive oil face wash, the first thing that would probably pop up in your mind is how can oil cleanse anything, and even if yes, will it make your skin oily? Interestingly, the fact is that apart from being 100 % natural, it is a very effective way of cleansing the skin from dirt, pollution and make-up. It nourishes and heals the skin, maintains a soft and tender skin, helps in removing spots and blemishes and gives a natural glow and radiance. Olive oil face wash helps in maintaining a healthy oil balance of the skin. It is enriched with Vitamin E and A, which helps in defying age. It is also rich in antioxidants, minerals and fatty acids, which is suitable for any skin type, whether normal or sensitive.

However, applying olive oil directly to the skin is something, dermatologists do not recommend. Instead, it is best to use an oil based cleanser or face wash that is packed with lipids. People with dry skin benefit the most from it, while someone with an oily skin might be reluctant to use it. But the truth is that everyone can use it.

How To Make Olive Oil Face Wash For Various Skin Types:

The ingredients to add along with olive oil for making a face wash varies according to your skin type. These ingredients are mostly essential oils that blends well with olive oil. An oil mix, made once can be kept and used for about six months. However, if you are preparing for the first time, it is recommended that you prepare it in small portion, to see its suitability on your skin. And although you can use any olive oil, for best results, you should use a good quality extra virgin olive oil only.

Dry Skin

Face washes found in the market are mostly loaded with soaps. Even the oil based ones contain soaps and harmful chemicals, which is apparent from the foams they form. So, using a soap based face wash makes the skin even more dry, dull and patchy. On the other hand, a homemade, chemical free face wash, especially when it is olive oil based, nourishes and cleanses the skin thoroughly.

How To Apply Olive Oil Face Wash?

Take a few drops of oil mix in your palm, apply it on your face with your fingers. Allow the skin a few seconds to absorb it and then gently and firmly rub it with your finger tips. Make sure that the areas you want to clean thoroughly is properly dissolved with the oil. Soak a face towel in hot water, just hot enough to open the pores, and gently hold it over your face, till the towel turns cool. Repeat the process once or even twice, so that you can feel the skin becoming clean, soft and supple. Once this is done, wipe the face with this hot towel, as a finishing touch. Now, rinse properly, and then pat dry.
