We all want dazzling white teeth. Unfortunately, we eat the wrong food, smoke and ignore our oral health. As a result out teeth lose their natural white color and become yellow or stained. Teeth whitening treatments offered in the dentist’s chamber and over-the-counter tooth whitening products are popular options for whitening the discolored teeth. While the former option is expensive the later options are usually ineffective. However, there is another tooth whitening option that is both cheap and effective, which involves treatment with hydrogen peroxide that you can do yourself.
Hydrogen peroxide is a bleaching agent, easily available in the drug stores. A low concentration hydrogen peroxide solution helps in dissolving the stains and whitens the tooth enamel. Furthermore, the mild antiseptic property of hydrogen peroxide helps in killing the germs that are responsible for gum infections and bad mouth odor.
Here Are Some Easy Ways To Use Hydrogen Peroxide To Whiten Your Teeth.
Swish With Hydrogen Peroxide
With your regular toothpaste brush your teeth as your normal do. Don’t forget to floss your teeth. After thoroughly cleansing your mouth, use hydrogen peroxide to whiten your discolored teeth. Take 30ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution and swish it around your discolored teeth for about one minute. Spit out the solution. Rinse with distilled water two to three times to remove all traces of hydrogen peroxide from your mouth.
Rub Hydrogen Peroxide
In case of severely stained tooth, simply swishing hydrogen peroxide around the discolored tooth may not work. In such as case, with a cotton swab apply hydrogen peroxide directly on the stained teeth. Leave it on your teeth for 2 to 3 minutes and then rinse with water.
Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda
Instead of using an expensive teeth whitening toothpaste, you can whiten your teeth by brushing it with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Make a paste by combining three teaspoons of baking soda with two teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide. Brush your teeth for two minutes with the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide toothpaste. Rinse your mouth. Use this homemade toothpaste once a week.
While using hydrogen peroxide for whitening your teeth do not swallow the solution. Always use a low concentration hydrogen peroxide solution as they are considered safe for your teeth and gum. Do not overuse hydrogen peroxide. Use it occasionally.
