Bad breath, scientifically known as halitosis is a cause of embarrassment to many people. Generally people find bad breath very repulsive. Bad breath is caused by bad oral maintenance. It can also be caused by certain conditions like gum diseases, sinus problems, diabetes and dry mouth. Certain food items like garlic, onions, alcohol can also cause bad breath at least temporarily. Here Are Simple Home Remedies For Bad Breath:
Cloves have anti-bacterial properties. Just pop in a piece of clove after every meal and chew them well. It has a slight sweet taste which will make eating it easier.
Bacteria found in our body find it difficult to survive in high salt environments. Hence, a salt water gargle will always help in controlling bad breath. Add 2 spoons of salt to a cup of hot water. When the water reaches tolerable temperature take a sip of this and gargle well. Do not swallow the salt water. Repeat this every morning and evening for reduced halitosis.
Squeeze a lemon into 1 glass of warm water. Use this water to gargle. You can also rinse your mouth using the same. The acidity of the lemon will discourage the growth of odor causing bacteria in your mouth. Lemon will also leave a fresh feeling.
Tea Tree Oil
Add few drops of tea tree oil in warm water. Use this for gargling every day. Tea tree oil is a common ingredient in a lot of oral care products. An added dose of tea tree oil will only help in controlling your bad breath.
Grate a ginger and squeeze out the juice. Add this to warm water and use it for gargling. Ginger has anti-microbial properties and will help eliminating the odor causing bacteria from your mouth.
Green Tea or Black Tea
Drink a cup of green tea frequently to reduce the bad breath. Tea has polyphenols which will help to remove sulphur compounds and odor causing bacteria from your mouth.
Have a cup of yogurt after every meal to control the bad breath. This is known control the Sulphur compounds in your oral cavity.
